Spotlight: Sun won’t set on Red Moon Rising Kurt Sasso Comics, News, spotlight 4 Comments When I ask the webcomic community to give me examples of new and upcoming webcomics they have never ceased to amaze me. They actually gave me two submissions. First off we are going to look at Red Moon Rising by Rose Loughran. Taking a very realistic looking post war russia and turning it into a steampunk magically charged experience to behold. There’s even a bit of magical influence involved as seen in later pages of the comic. While the story is just getting started you can tell that Rose takes the time to not only detail the backgrounds but the facial expressions are top notch in that gritty distinctive style. With Rose’s style of cell shading that’s usually really hard to pull off and the great news for her readers is that she pulls this off nicely. With twenty page chapters the story flies by so far fairly quickly. While the story jumps around alot, this is more for the placement of various characters only a few of whom have been mentioned. Plus, she leaves at least at the time I wrote this spotlight with a “Dun, dun, duuunnnnn” cliffhanger comic. As for the rest of the site, it’s actually quite nice and loads relatively quickly. With every page showing what the author was thinking at the time along with a mini-blog about each page. Taking a look through her Links page it shows that she has alot of webcomics that she enjoys and wishes others to read. As for this up and coming author, I think that you will be pleasently surprised with what she will be able to create in her future pages and I know I’m hooked on reading her works. Give her a look and see this dramatic webcomic and put her in your RSS readers. You won’t be disappointed. 4 Responses Red Moon Rising | Page 34 June 27, 2009 […] excitingly, Red Moon Rising has been spotlighted over at TGT Webcomics, and I am pretty damn thrilled about […] benben June 10, 2009 I love the art of these panels! I will have to check this comic out. Dray May 25, 2009 Go Rose Go! This comic has an epic and wandering feel like Dicebox, with a refined eye for world building as well as character development. I've been keeping an eye on her for some time and I'm convinced that this is going to be a fucking rad body of work (it already is, but she's just getting started.) Totally worth coming back for.
