The Finals – Results 1st Place – Episode 32 – Byron Wilkins from 1977 the Comic (50%, 493 Votes) Episode 23 – Dan Burleson from Oy Comics & Marie Tary from Brymstone (50%, 491 Votes) This was one of the best and closest brackets that we’ve had the entire tournament. Between everyone’s fans I’m sure that many people will be changing out their mouses because the left button is going to be broken. This came down to the wire and with 20 minutes left in the tournament… They were tied. The site was being hit so hard that even I couldn’t check out who won until it all ended. This bracket used their talent and incentives of images on their site to get their wonderful fans to vote and while Dan Burleson (Oy Comics) website was down it was up to Marie Tary (Brymstone) with her staple of Darsche with sexy succubi in hand to drive her fans to vote; With the help of Twitter it allowed Danny’s fans to get in on the action as well. There road to the Finals was anything but easy. A close victory in Round 1 against Amy (Charby the Vampirate); To an impressive victory over Brock Heasley (Super Fogey’s); Semi-Finals action against Alan Evans (Rival Angels) was a close one with them getting the 3-count to move on to the Finals; Not to be out done, Byron Wilkins launched not one but two amazing filler strips to get his fans to vote as well. Since Round 2, Byron has been actively having fun with each of his combatants from his Stoner vs. Drunk sketches against Antoine Gagnon (The Drunken Fools) to this round. Byron was clear that he respected each of his combatants and was having fun drawing their characters. Round 1 pitted Byron in an easy win against Mike Scholsky (Mikey’s Life); An impressive victory over JGray and Keith (Mysteries of the Arcana); While the famous Drunks vs. Stoners battle against Antoine Gagnon (The Drunken Fools) was a personal favourite highlight of the Semi-Finals; Thus, the winner by two votes is: Congratulations goes to Byron Wilkins on winning 1st place in the TGT Webcomics Tournament: Episodic Battles. 2nd Place – Episode 7 – Colby Purcell from Lint (57%, 453 Votes) Episode 18 – DBethel and Eben07 from Eben07 (43%, 337 Votes) The Agents of History are used to having not only history but the world stacked against them from the first round against the Trifecta of Samantha Wikan (Life’s a Witch), George (Dungeon Warden) and Ryan Hudson (ChannelAte), to defeating Brock Heasley (Super Fogey’s); to finally the Professor himself (Girl Genius Online) in the Semi-Finals. It seemed like every round was one big step after another. Their fans got them every step of the way to the finals and it was a heated battle. Colby (Lint) on the other hand had been one of the strongest competitors from the start. Her fan base was constantly surging her webcomic ahead showing that they could not be stopped even against some tough competition with Gisele Lagace (Menage a 3) in the first round with a close victory; Alina Pete (WereGeek) in Round 2; Finally winning (decisively at that) against Jennie Breeden (The Devil’s Panties). Congratulations goes to Colby Purcell on winning 2nd place in the TGT Webcomics Tournament: Episodic Battles. 3rd Place – Episode 31 – Eldon Cowgur from Astray 3 (54%, 369 Votes) Episode 3 – Mike Prokop from Starship Moonhawk (46%, 313 Votes) This was one bracket where fan base really came into play. In fact it was because of previous rounds that the voting system had to be changed specifically for the Finals. To say that Mike Prokop’s fanbase really loves his webcomic is an understatement. They’re feverish if not willingness to push their favourite webcomic ahead against every combatant they faced shows that no matter what his fans will always come through. That being said, battling against Arne Schlenberg (Union of Heroes) in a close victory Round 1; to defeating Dawn Griffin (Zorphbert & Fred); To a controversial voting process in the Semi-final against Scott Sava (The Dreamland Chronicles) where stipulations had to be set for future rounds / tournaments that caused a revote in which Mike moved on; Finally the Finals where it was a hard fought battle against Eldon Cowgur (Astray 3). As for Eldon Cowgur while still holding the longest podcast in TGT history, one could unwittingly call him a ‘black sheep’ or ‘dark horse’ when it came to the Finals. Winning easily in the first round against JGray (2nd Shift); A powerful victory against J Horsley III (Y2CL) in Round 2; Followed by an extremely close win against Scott Story (Johnny Saturn) in the semi-finals; He made it to the finals and that’s when the real battle began. Congratulations to Eldon Cowgur on winning 3rd place in the TGT Webcomics Tournament: Episodic Battles.
