ToonSeum needs our help! Kurt Sasso News I have always been a fan of the arts. Be it art galleries, libraries, museum’s, etc. I first heard about ToonSeum from Barry Linck (Phineus: Magician for Hire) and even did a few 24 Hour Comic Book Day podcasts at the ToonSeum building in downtown Pittsburgh. I was saddened to hear about ToonSeum’s warehouse being damaged by a massive water leak, and immediately contacted Joe Wos. Now it’s up to us, fellow readers, to help ToonSeum however we can. Two weeks ago the ToonSeum suffered a damaging water leak in their storage warehouse due to heavy rains. While this warehouse did not store any art or artifacts there were literally thousands and thousand of books and comic books that were damaged. Many of these books were awaiting transfer to the ToonSeum’s new library area opening in April. The long boxes filled with comics were often used to distribute to kids for free during school visits etc… While this damage has not affected any artwork or day to day operations, it has been a great strain on our time, budget, and outreach efforts. We have been very grateful to all the fans, publishers and individuals who have come forward to support us! We deeply and sincerely appreciate any help at all, donations at all levels, volunteers and more mean so very much to our growing museum of comic and cartoon art. Donations may be made at www.toonseum.org/waystogive.html or via PayPal to donate@toonseum.org Cheques may be sent to: The ToonSeum 945 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 152 And while donations are obviously a much needed means of support there are other ways you can help. If you are in the Pittsburgh area, We are always looking for volunteers. We are a 90 percent volunteer run organization. That includes the Executive Director! So rest assured your donations go directly to supporting the ToonSeum! Donations of books are welcome, but collection donations should call first before sending. Artist can also donate original art for the collection or to auction at fundraisers, please be specific when donating. For those of you who may not know of the ToonSeum, we are a non-profit museum dedicated to the comic and cartoon arts. We have always considered us a fan based museum, and we really do love our fans!
